Origin of Mercedes Benz-History
When anyone says the word “Mercedes Benz” it immediately brings to mind a whole different world of luxury, class and style. Anyone who can afford a Mercedes Benz automatically gets into a whole new stratosphere of culture and affluence. And of course, when you are paying out Rs 32, 00,000 to Rs 91, 00,000 for a classic Mercedes Benz, it does mean you have extra cash to spare! But cost aside, what makes a Mercedes Benz unique? Let’s find out
A little history
Karl Benz was a German manufacturer of high class petrol based cars. In a few years time, he merged his car designs with Gottlieb Daimler and engineer Wilhelm Maybach’s designs to create the modern day petrol engines. The very first car was sold way back in 1901 under the Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft company. But the actual Mercedes Benz brand name was first created in 1926 when the official merger of Karl Benz’s and Gottlieb Daimler’s companies took place. But the company is now spread out over the entire world with manufacturing units and assembly units located in over 20 different countries all over the world.
Quality over quantity?
The company makes high quality cars, trucks, buses and vans and they have been well known all over the world. But in the last decade, the quality standards have begun to drop. Even though they have managed to recover their high standing in international quality studies, the 2009 US Consumer Reports only recommend the S-class models for their quality. Another common problem has been the fuel efficiency of the cars. Most of the cars that are sold in the US have to pay an additional GAS GUZZLERS TAX. The company cars also have the worst CO2 emissions standards of all the European car manufacturing companies. On a ranking chart of 14 in 2008 of CO2 emissions, the company came an abysmal bottom 14th.
The company makes over twenty different models of cars, sports cars, buses, vans and trucks that are used all over the Western world. Most of the models have not come down to India yet, but bookings are already on for the limited car types that are available.
Quality and style: that’s what makes a brand like Mercedes Benz unique!
