The Genesis and History:
Started with the inspiration of Jawaharlal Nehru’s persuasion of self
reliance ,Raghunandan Saran set up Ashok motors in 1948.THe British Leyland later acquired a stake and the name of the company changed to Ashok Leyland.In 1955, the first commercial vehicle rolled out .In 1987, the company was acquired by the multimillion Hinduja group that now holds the majority stake in the company.

Definitely agree with the post….. Ashok Leyland and TATA both dominated trucking market in India for last couple of Decades……and Ashok Leyland had played a big role in Indian transportation, as we see in picture most army vehicle and even the other government vehicles are manufactured by them.

oops! got something wrong in this post. you said it surpass the railway records. but my friend railway has a record of carrying 20 million passenger a day . and you have said ashok leyland carried 60 million a year. so how come it surpasses it . it’s way out of league….

The 60 milliion figure was an official estimate released by a popular surveying company.
